Fabens ISD Hosts Special Olympics Texas

FABENS, TX (April 25, 2024) - Fabens Independent School District is thrilled to announce its role as the host for the upcoming El Paso Area Special Olympics Track and Field Competition, scheduled for this Saturday, April 27th, 2024. The event will welcome fourteen teams comprising 300 athletes, including representatives from Cotton Valley, Fabens, Tornillo, and San Elizario. 

Special Education Director Diane Flores said, “Let us all embrace and bring to life SOTX oath here in Fabens ISD. Let me win, but if I cannot win let me be brave in the attempt."  

“We are honored to host the El Paso Special Olympics Texas Track and Field Competition for the first time in Fabens. This opportunity embodies our commitment to championing diversity and embracing the power of every individual's journey to greatness. We celebrate our athletes as they redefine boundaries and illuminate the spirit of inclusion,” said Sandra Duchane, Transitional Specialist for the district. 

Commencing at 8:30 am, the opening ceremonies will mark the beginning of a day filled with spirited competitions that highlight our athletes' abilities.  In support of this endeavor, Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) invites individuals interested in volunteering to contribute to the success of the competition. A dedicated volunteer table will be available for those eager to take part and lend a helping hand.
